1. Importance of conserving water, 3R (Recycle, Reuse & Reduce), 4 national taps (National catchments, Imported water, NEWater, Desalinated water)
2. They are:
i) UV disinfection, which may kill bacteria, but does not remove them. Therefore reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration are used.
ii) If the process in ultrafiltration were multiplied by a 100 million times, the holes in between the strands will be the size of a tennis ball, water molecules a ping pong ball, virus would be a truck, and bacteria would be as large as the NEWater factory itself.
3. Ultrafiltration is an effective way of filtering harmful substances from water. It filters all bacteria and most viruses.
4. Reduce usage of water at home like using rain water to water plants, using a mug to brush my teeth instead of running tap and using water drained from the washing machine to wash the floor.
